20th Dylan Days at 25th Blues Alive 2021

The originally planned 20th Dylan Days / Zimmerman Frei program fell due to anti-pandemic measures, so we happily accepted the kind offer of Blues Alive festival organizers in Šumperk. They planned to commemorate Bob Dylan`s anniversary as part of the accompanying programs. We realized workshop about Dylan and his influence on czech music and culture.

Dylan was covered by the following programs:

Thursday November 11
16-17 hrs: Opening of the exhibiton I LIKE BOB! (Bob Dylan and his footstep in Czechia countries and neighbourhood).

Friday November 12
11-12:30 hrs: Colloquium dedicated to Dylan’s influence on Czech music and culture with moderator Ondřej Konrád and the participants Matthew Sweney, Petr Onufer, Jan Sobotka and Jan Řepka.

13-14:30 hrs: Lecture by Elijah Wald, author of Dylan Goes Electric! book.

16-19 hrs: Tribute concert with Broken Harp, Jan Řepka, Vladimír Merta and Jarda Svoboda and band.

Saturday November 13
11-13 hrs: Movie Bob Dylan Never Ending Tour Diaries: Drummer Winston Watson’s Incredible Journey (2009) with introduction by Winston Watson drummer of Bob Dylan in 1992-1996 (included first four concerts in Prague).

13-15 hrs: Concert of Living Free feat. Winston Watson. Living Free played as a quick and great replacement for quarantined Robert Křesťan and his band which was planned originally.

16-17:30 hrs: Lecture by Elijah Wald (author of What is the blues? book), oriented not so directly Dylan but on the roots of the blues (the connection is obvious).

PROMLUVY

The colloquium in the city library, dedicated to the influence of Bob Dylan on Czech music and culture, was moderated by Ondřej Konrád and its participants were Matthew Sweney (who replaced his originally appointed colleague Jakub Guziur), Petr Onufer, Jan Sobotka and Jan Řepka. We no longer hastily sought compensation for Robert Křesťan, who was affected by quarantine.
